Editorial Project

I have finished editorial project. The challenge of this project was mark making. I usually do not use marks a lot. However, the explanation of mark making is interesting. I can believe this is an interesting point of illustration which gives abstract atmosphere. Without concrete images, it is able to tell a story to audience.

Crawling the First World without Words (the first film project)

I made the first short film today. It is 1minite and 48 seconds. The title is Crawling the First World without Words. This film is about the first world which means the first experience of living by myself. Also, in my flat, there is a chinese couple who got a baby this year, so the meanings are link together. Moreover, I put some history of this town. Here is a quite pretty road.

This film's purpose is just experience of adobe premiere pro to know how to use. so, it is a bit fast and unstable.  without planning, I started to make it. In this film, I used photoshop and imovie as well.

If you could not watch it, please try this link → http://youtu.be/1aVt99EaFsc

Fiction project crit today (illustration of Lieland)

Today had a crit of fiction project. I drew 5 illustrations, but after crit I decided to redraw 3 of them.  2 of them are here. they might be final pieces.

when Robbie was 7, he was hiding coins
under the stone. the place would be
an entrance of Lieland.

Robbie is finding the coins at 5am.
However, there is a hole instead of the coins.

Other 3, I rethink about the structures. hope they would work well.

Some Sketches in V&A Museum

Today, I went to V&A Museum and did some sketches. This statue is Perseus and Medusa. it is so cool angle and posing. I want to draw it again.

ロンドンにいる間に、たくさん色んな彫刻や絵画を模写したいなって、やる気がでてきました^0^日本だと模写も写真も禁止のところ多いしね^^;

Lieland

I would be 2nd year of Camberwell Illustration now. really glad to be it ^0^
Now my task is 5 illustrations for 'Lieland'. Actually, I'm a little bit wandering my style to draw. Anyway draw it first.

Lieland is a story Etgar Keret wrote and published in 2012. It is like a two world are there. One is real world, another is Lie world. Lieland has been made by someone's lie, maybe everyone's lies. the world is whiteness and asking Whose lie is a bit rude in the place. the main character, Robbie has been in Lieland accidentally. he is a liar as well. and this story has like a symbol, bubble gum machine.

the main character hid
some change under the stone.
it was his first lie.

just draw first without thinking

I was thinking about which style and material should be, but too much thinking causes nothing. At first, I tried to sketch some objects from the story one by one. Then, I would like the sketch and adding other parts. I was confused when thinking about structure on paper, but I notice it is difficult to create good drawing. I am not good at thinking.
Yes, my tutor said me that does not matter which style. so, I would try to this one^0^♪

oh! I have noticed now!! in this story, the bubble gum machine is worked with Lira coins. omg! once I had thought about why the coin is Lira??? now I got the answer. It might be..... Lira Lira Lira lira lira.......liar liar Liar!!!! lol

Making Handmade Stickers and Cards

tried to wrap them as a stickers pack

I tried to make some products to sell at Camberwell Festival. Then I made sets of stickers and message cards.  Every time I thought nobody want them because usually people do not need them in their daily life, haha. But, I love stickers for using on my diary or putting them on a letter for fridens. It might be difficult to sell all sets. Just do my best, wish good experience, and enjoy making ^0^♪

At first, I was wondering to buy some printable sticker paper which was expensive. Then my friend told me to get the paper with small price.
I used e-bay the site had the cheapest one. So, I got 10 sheet of A4 glossy sticker paper with £ 1.99. Also, got them just 2days after buy on the web.

A4 glossy sticker paper on e-bay↓
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/10p-A4-GLOSS-White-Self-Adhesive-Sticker-Paper-Sheet-Address-Label-UK-STOCK-/251190704405

I used my epson printer ( epson glossy, best photo ).
I used my drawings in my foundation art and 1st year at Camberwell. I thought those food images are pretty good for stickers.

Sweets stickers
The first day of Camberwell festival. some people liked to take them. I was glad^0^

Japanese food stickers
When I was a foundation student, I drew Japanese food it was a task. However, when it became a product, I knew that British people are not familier with the images, so ... not majority.

message cards
Also, I made again the cards, Once I could sell them in the first year exhibition.

If I could not sell them out, present for you maybe ... ^0^ - <3

GIFT No. 21 (フレドリッヒ・フレーベル、恩物参照)

This is my final project of 1st year in Camberwell♪
I made a picture book with puzzle. It is about Friedrich Froebel who is German educationalist. Froebel made the first kindergarten and the system, also toys for children called GIFT No. 1 to 20.

It was nice exercise to design the whole pages and choosing proper font.  Also, it was difficult to decide the appearance of the character and the combination of  colour.  Here are some pages of picture book.

Froebel in kindergarten. I did some drawings then digital collage.

He builds a little castle with GIFT.

This page explains the toys 1 to 20.

And then here are some explanation of the puzzle. This puzzle has 6 pictures, and the drawings are related to the picture book. The player could enjoy this changeable puzzle.

I made a box as well. The title page of book
and the one side of puzzle are same pattern.

Yeah! I want to challenge a competition, but this has too much originality. so maybe next year with other work.  . . .???

Natural History Museum (ロンドン自然史博物館)

I went Natural History Museum on May. 2013. This huge museum is divided as some sections such as red zoon, blue zoon, orange zoon green zoon, etc.
especially I do like the red zoon because like natural stones, I saw many beautiful and elegant stones there. sometime they are like a drawing is interesting.

Also, there is a natural garden the outside of the museum.

Pollock's Toy Museum

I went to Pollock's Toy Museum to research for my project. this museum was a small building. and selling toys.
admission is £6 for adult.

this building is a common traditional British house, and the inside is divided  as 5 or 6 small rooms. Each room displays old toys. 30 minutes is enough to see them.

Museum of Childhood

I went Museum of Childhood to research for my project. I found some interesting toys, introducing below.

this is Picture cubes or blocks in 1890 and 1938.
This puzzle is simpler than a jigsaw. it also has the
bonus of having six different pictures to put together.

There are Froebel's GIFTs.
the toy were used as education  for children.

GIFT No.2

I made a costume which forms chocolate. and each piece of chocolate can be opened. inside have photos related to my inside. the materials are felt, canvas, and paper. it was difficult to make it was complicated.

improvement of sweets for black and white

I did improve the sweet drawing which I drew with colour. Then when it is changed to monotone, black and white needs more contrast. So, I added the contrast to them.

On the left is with colour. middle is monotone version and then on the right is adding contrast.
It became easy to see and more real.

The Sweet Tree

I worked on a group with peers for author project. These illustrations are for society project 'Manifesto'. explaining my creature 'chocolate fairy' on there. The project needs me to work with monotone. However, I realized that is hard for me because I usually work with colour. So I could just draw with color then change them into monotone.
