Illustration for Surrey Canal Walk

at the exhibition Parallel_Citys, I displayed my work. This piece is about the Grand Surrey Canal. behind of Peckham Library, there was Surrey Canal Peckham Branch in 1826 to 1974. Now it is a cycling road as a Peckham Canal Walk. Thus I drew a pair of illustration on hand made concertina books for this site. one is in the past, another is now.

in the exhibition

it is an old map shows Surrey Canal
Peckham Branch on the bottom.

this page has a milestone, a bridge,
and a horse draws a ship.
people were looking at the horses like a zoo.

one horse fell into the canal then go up

when horses cross, one should stop

a horse is fed, and laborer take
the timber to the warehouse.

lime stone was transported as well
there were fishermen to take a licence.

the yellow line (left side) had the canal.
the bottom has a library.

a cycling parson and a bus on the bridge.
the milestone remains.

the canal is beautiful green now.

people picnic, run and walk with a dog.

a timber warehouse has still exist.
there are a Library and a gym

kids play. there is a coffee shop. across the road,
there is Peckham Palace.
the Peckham flat was designed like a port.
